BOARD POLICY AND GOVERNANCE DOCUMENTS
The Washoe County School District ("District") is governed through Board Policy, Administrative Regulations and other governing documents, as well as state and federal laws and regulations. The Board of Trustees receives its legal authority under Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 386, Local Administrative Organization.
The District utilizes a program referred to as Continuous Systems Improvement ("CSI"), a quality management system that focuses on high performance and customer service. The purpose of implementing CSI in the District is to improve every service that is offered to the schools. The District believes that by making what staff does more effective, more efficient, and more responsive, we will be able to be of greater service to those we serve.
The creation and implementation of governing documents - such as Board policy, administrative regulations, administrative procedures, forms and manuals - promotes and enables informed decision making by the Superintendent, Leadership Team, administrators, faculty and staff of the District. Good governance requires well-written documents that are easily accessible to faculty and staff, parents/guardians, students, and the community.
REVISION, ADOPTION, PUBLIC COMMENT
The Policy Committee of the Board of Trustees (http://www.washoeschools.net/Page/4556) meets regularly with staff to develop and revise Board policy. Meetings of the Policy Committee are posted to the District's website and are open to the public.
